Consequence of Stress on Children's Developement

Natural Disaster... Ms. Hurricane Katrina,
It was August 29, 2005 evening Ms. Katrina rear her ugly head she was a 5 on the scale. She covered the states of Mississippi and Louisiana and parts of Alabama and Texas. I was living on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi at the time in Pascagoula, MS in a apartment complex second floor. My daughter was almost 2 at that time . Where l lived the beach was about less then 10 miles away. Everyone though that, "oh its just another storm it past over in couple hours". But it didn't!

Lord behold me, she wasn't just a Storm but a woman in rage. We was in our apartment the rain started it rain hard about 2 hours then the wind pick up the rain got harder and harder the wind got stronger and stronger until trees and anything that was not nail to the ground was moving in to air. Remember my daughter and l are still upstairs in our apartment the windows was vibrating the building felt like it was moving and objects was hitting the sides of the apartment. Oh, Lord what to do going to do please let my child and me make it though this.  By this time it pitch black out there's a huge hole everything I've own was in the parking lots cause the big picture window was gone and the wind got into the front room my daughter and l was in the bathroom closet with the mattress over our hands with blanket and pillows the storm lasted a long time about 4-6 hours for start to finish. To secret to come out l hear the FAMA person call out is anyone here  "yes in the bathroom closet" getting out the closet and mattress was wet and had drub on it. With no light, water, or car we was rush to shelter then after 2 days there we was finally taken to my mother house. After about 3 day my sister and l went to see my apartment my mouth open "think you Lord", that all l could say.

About 2 weeks planes and America Red Cross where dropping off food, water, and personal item at mid ground location. My daughter to this day remembers the hardship that Storm put us though. If it rains hard and the wind is blowing, she and l have a negative reaction to it, we are looking at each other crazy but l reassure her its OK mommy here. The consequence of the Storm cause my daughter and l to have a stress attack due to the outcome of the action. My daughter was almost 2 at the time but she knew what was going on due to her mature level and her feeling that this isn't right. Just yesterday, we was talking about how the storm left us with nothing and you don't miss it until its gone.

In the Mississippi really on the Gulf Coast Hurricane are normal to us in my life I've endure 20 plus natural disaster in my life but nothing prepared us for that storm of the century, nobody knew! In other parts of the world like California where earthquakes are the norm and New York where snow up to your wrist is norm. Although these are normal don't make it any less stressful to person having to cope with it. People to this day are still dealing with what that storm take form them a piece of mind, everything l work so hard to get is now gone and the insurance people are nothing holding up their side. Stress like that can send a person into melt down city.

EXAMINING CODES of ETHICS

Early childhood programs operate within the context of their immediate community made up of families and other institutions concerned with children's welfare.

I. Responsive Family Centered Practices: ensure that families receive individual, meaningful, and relevant services responsive to their beliefs, values, customs, languages, and culture. By promoting family well begin and participation.

Meaningful to me, cause it force on the whole family, not just the child. Head Start  programs conduct their children and families in this manner. Teaches them foundations and how to.

DEC code of Ethical identify the key principal guiding our professional conduct; and provide guidance for practice and personal dilemmas in our conduct of research and practices. The code intended to assist professional in resolving conflicts as they arise in practice with children and families and with other colleagues.

Meaningful to me, network with children with disabilities and their families, so they can better adapt to home life, professional life, and social interaction as well.

II. Professional Development and Preparation: is critical providing the most effective services for young children with disabilities and their families. Keeping abreast of most current laws, regulation, and policies.

Meaning to me, when working with children you have to say abreast on current policies, meeting, conferences, and training form the state in which you operate for.

III. NAEYC code of Ethical Conducts offers guideline for responsible behavior and sets forth a common basic for resolving the principal ethical dilemmas encountered in early childhood care and education.

PERSONALIZING MY BLOG!!

"Where to wild things are," is a children book by Maurice Sendak...
In the book Max is a young boy who has an activity imagination, as well as mischievous. My favorite part in the book is when the wild things asked Max was he king where he came from and Max said yeah then the wild things said how long!! Max replied 20 years the wild things were speechless. Then Max shouted "let the wild rumps start."  Max is like every child in the World "wild" when working in early childhood you have to be open-minded to change and all of those little personals too.

MARCH 2010,
My only son Brandyn Chase started walking this month all on his own, it touch me cause I saw where he came from and also he is my child. Brandyn was 10 months and he tried and tried each day until he got it! To see my son walk and I was just holding him a few months ago I felt a feeling like other, can't explain it as a mother you felt it to. That was a touching and emotional milestone for he and me.

BEAUTIFUL ISN'T IT!!!
This picture relate to more children in urban geography area. Why? early childhood learning can impact children that come from all walks of life this picture illustrate urban and low income art at it's best. Art is the most unapproachable to many school district. As early childhood teachers how can we advocate for Art Education?

Uncle Obedean Crear Sr., he is like a father to me, When I went off to college he was the one to move me and give me a lil' spending money. Well, I know l didn't want to do that forever so l went to school and he aid me my whole 4 years so you can say he motivated me to do better for myself. Also, he was the one who influence me to breastfeed my first daughter, then l cont. with my twins. He is the my father of possible. He also, knew that l had a great love for children so he influences me to research Early Childhood Education/Child Development to gain a better understanding of the course work and make sure that was my overall life's mission.
